Cloud sync
Keep your clipboard history and notes in sync on every device. End-to-end encrypted, so only you can read them.
Account and Sync
Sign in, keep your devices in sync, and see what this account is storing. End-to-end encrypted.
Items from your other devices arrive the moment they are copied, and what you copy here uploads right away.
Only what you uploaded. Picking a row syncs first, then opens it.
12.4 MB used, 37.6 MB free. Only images you uploaded count here. Text and notes take no storage, and images other people shared with you stay on their account.
96 of 3,000 rows used. Deleted items stop counting once the delete reaches the server. A single entry can be up to 512 KB; anything larger is left on this device.
How to set up sync
Section titled “How to set up sync”- Open the Account & Sync screen from the sidebar.
- Create an account:
- With email: on the Sign up tab, enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters, then click Create account.
- With Google: click Continue with Google and finish in your browser. Back in the app, you still set a password under Set your password. That password is your encryption secret, and it never leaves your device.
- Save your recovery code when the app shows it: Copy it or Save as file, keep it somewhere safe, and click I saved my recovery code. It is shown once and stored nowhere.
When it worked, the screen shows your account, with this computer listed under Devices as “this device”. Sign in with the same email and password on your other computers to sync them too.
Your password does double duty: it logs you in and it decrypts your data, but the two jobs use two different keys derived from it on your device. Sign-in sends only the login key. The key that decrypts your data never leaves your machine, so nothing on the server can stand in for it. The full picture is in the security model.
Sync modes
Section titled “Sync modes”The mode is per device, so a laptop can sync live while a desktop stays manual. New devices start in Realtime.
Items from your other devices arrive the moment they are copied, and what you copy here uploads right away.
Spaces are not affected. What you share to a space still goes out right away, and what other people share with you always arrives live.
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Realtime | Items from your other devices arrive the moment they are copied, and what you copy here uploads right away. |
| Passive | Items from your other devices arrive every 5 minutes, or when you press Refresh. What you copy here still uploads right away. |
| Manual | Nothing new uploads on its own. Pick what to send with Upload to cloud, on an item or on a selection. Items already in the cloud stay up to date, removing one still removes it, and Refresh brings down what your other devices sent. |
Spaces are not affected by the mode: what you share to a space goes out right away, and what others share with you always arrives live.
What syncs
Section titled “What syncs”Clipboard entries, notes, and some of your preferences. Which settings travel and which stay on each computer is listed in Which settings sync.
How to restore your history from the cloud
Section titled “How to restore your history from the cloud”This guide shows you how to download to this PC anything your account holds that is missing here, such as your history on a new PC, or after a restart that cleared it. Only items that reached the cloud can come back. An entry this PC never synced is not in your account.
- Open the Account & Sync screen. You need to be signed in.
- Under Cloud sync, find the Restore from cloud card and click Restore. The button reads Restoring… while it runs.
- Read the result, which replaces the card’s description:
- “Restored 1,445 items.” Everything missing is back.
- “Restored 3 items. 2 more are downloading.” Images and files take longer. They appear as each download finishes.
- “2 items are downloading.” Only images or files were missing, and they appear as each download finishes.
- “Nothing to restore.” This PC already has everything your account holds.
Deleted items stay deleted. A restore never brings back something you deleted, on this PC or on another device. If the line shows an error instead, see Missing history.
When restore runs on its own
Section titled “When restore runs on its own”The same restore runs without the button:
- after every sign-in, including signing out and back in with the same account;
- at startup and when you press Refresh, if this PC’s own record lists items it no longer has;
- at startup and when you press Refresh, if your account holds more of your own items than this PC;
- the first time a space’s key arrives on this PC, for that space’s items.
In Manual mode, the automatic restore waits until you press Refresh or Restore.
The first start after updating from an older version can bring back older entries: ones the old 100-entry limit or the clear after a reboot had dropped, and items you deleted whose removal never reached the server. For someone who has used the app for a long time, that can be thousands of entries. What to do about them is in Missing history.
Files, images and folders
Section titled “Files, images and folders”Images and files ride along, up to 5 MB per entry. For an entry holding several files, or a folder, the 5 MB covers all of them together. A folder syncs as a single entry and unpacks on the other device. Anything over the cap is skipped and the app tells you; nothing is dropped silently.
Accounts start with 50 MB of encrypted file storage. The storage bar turns amber at 85%, and the app notifies you at 90%. Only images and files you upload count against it; text and notes take no file storage.
Two more ceilings keep an account bounded, and the app leaves anything past them on the device rather than failing:
- A single entry’s text is capped at about 384 KB. A larger clip stays local.
- Up to 3,000 items sync per account. Beyond that, new items stay local until you make room.
The Account screen shows your storage, a separate synced-item count, per-type breakdowns, and a cloud view of everything stored. When something will not fit, it lands in a not synced list grouped by reason, with Try again once you have space.
Devices
Section titled “Devices”Each installation registers as a device, named automatically from its platform. The Account screen lists them with live online/offline presence, and you can revoke a device you no longer use. You cannot revoke the device you are signed in on; sign out on that one instead. A revoked device has to sign in again before it syncs.
To stop this device sending anything new, switch it to Manual. Items already in the cloud still stay up to date, and spaces keep syncing; to stop completely, sign out.
To change your password, click Change password on a signed-in device, enter your Current password and the new one, and click Save password. Your synced items stay readable: the key that decrypts them stays the same, and only what wraps it changes.
Deleting and removing
Section titled “Deleting and removing”Deleting a synced entry asks you to confirm first, because the removal travels to your other devices as well. The prompt spells out what the delete affects, and a Don’t ask again option turns it off:
- Your own items leave all your synced devices.
- An item someone shared with you leaves all your devices, but stays in the space for everyone else.
- An item you shared into a space also leaves that space for everyone.

Remove from cloud
Remove from cloud is different: it takes an item, or a whole selection, off the server and your other devices, but keeps the copy on the device you are on. Use it to free up cloud space without losing your local history.
An item you delete while you are signed out leaves this PC only. It stays in the cloud and on your other devices, and it stays deleted here: a restore does not bring it back. To remove it everywhere, delete it on a device that still has it.
Offline and conflicts
Section titled “Offline and conflicts”Offline changes queue locally and drain in order when you reconnect. Conflicts resolve to the most recent edit. A delete you make offline is queued like any other change and reaches your other devices once you are back online.
How to reset a forgotten password
Section titled “How to reset a forgotten password”- On the Sign in tab, click Forgot?, enter your email, and click Send reset link. Ask from the computer you will reset on: the link only works in the app that asked for it.
- Open the link in the email. The app opens Set a new password.
- Enter the new password twice and click Save password.
On a computer that has been signed in to this account before, that is all: your synced data stays readable. On one that has not, the app also asks for your Recovery code and you click Use the recovery code. Signing in on a computer you have used before works too.
If you have no recovery code and no computer that was signed in, Start over with a new key gets you back into the account, but everything synced under the old key can no longer be read, on any device, by anyone, including us.
