Notes

Notes live one click from your clipboard history and share its organizing model: the same pinning, groups, search, filters and bulk actions. Pinned notes rise to the top under their own header, and the list can show as tiles, a list, or a single column. Drag the divider to resize the list against the editor, or expand the editor to fill the window.

From the design review
The rail should have ends. A line that stops dead reads as a bug.

Fixed by fading the last group out under its own dot.

Backend notes

The server stores ciphertext and fans it out. It never holds a key that opens any of it.

uv run pytest
Things to try on the popup
  • Clamp it to the monitor it opens on
  • Keep the slot digits when Pinned is empty
  • Esc twice should not reopen it

Space key handover
Rotate first, re-wrap second. Never the other way round.

The old key stays in the keyring so older items still open.

Wording for the empty history

"Nothing here yet. Copy something and it lands here." Short, says what to do, no exclamation mark.

Onboarding copy

First run should say what the app does in one line and then get out of the way. No tour.

Support answers worth keeping

"Where does my history live?" On disk, in the app's data folder, and nowhere else until you sign in.

"Can you read it?" No. The key never leaves the machine.

Whether anyone actually uses the single-column layout.

Wayland

Global capture works, popup placement does not. Say so in the docs.

Icon sizes

Sidebar 18, toolbar 13, chips 11. Nothing in between.

Podcast notes

The bit about defaults being the product, around 34 minutes.

Reply drafted

Yes, deleting an entry deletes it everywhere. It travels as a tombstone.

Names to avoid

Workspace, project, channel. All of them mean something else already.

Notes auto-save while you type; there is no save button to forget, though Ctrl+S flushes the save immediately. A note you open and leave without a title or any content is discarded, so you never collect blank notes. The toolbar keeps a live word and character count and the time since the last edit, and Ctrl++ / Ctrl+- / Ctrl+0 adjust the reading zoom.

A note can hold the clips it is about. To add one:

  1. In the note toolbar, click Insert a clipboard entry or a group.
  2. Search in Search clipboard and groups, and pick an entry or a group.
  3. Under Insert as, choose Card (a box with the content in it) or Chip (inline, opens on hover).
  4. Click Insert card or Insert chip, or double-click the row.

Drag or paste an image into a note, or add any file with Attach image or file in the toolbar. Attachments are stored in the app’s data folder and referenced from the note, which keeps the note itself small.

Any note exports as a .md file, or copies to the clipboard as Markdown. Export is a projection, not the storage format, so exporting changes nothing about the note.

With cloud sync on, notes sync end-to-end encrypted exactly like clipboard entries, and can be shared into Spaces. A note you share into a space stays yours: other members see it read-only, with a bar saying only you can edit it.
